We hope your summer is going well! Remember to stay hydrated with water and electrolytes as you enjoy time by the pool, gardening, or walking around town! Vitamin D is key for strong bones, but we must stay safe in the heat.
Our Osteofitness classes are in full swing and have been going great! Exercise is key to preventing mobility issues and falls.

What is OsteofitnessTM and why is it important for your health?
OsteofitnessTM is a type of exercise program that is designed to prevent and treat osteoporosis (weakening of the bones). The exercise program includes muscle strengthening, balance and proprioception training, resistance training, and fall prevention techniques.
Individuals with osteoporosis are more likely to break a bone. The most common bones that are at risk are the hips, wrists, and the spine. Osteoporosis is most common in people over 50, and has impacted over 50 million people in the US.
Some symptoms include losing an inch of height, changes in posture such as bending forward, shortness of breath (due to spine being compressed), and lower back pain.
Exercise is the best way to keep the bones from becoming weaker. Weight bearing exercises strengthen muscles and train balance. Overtime exercise will help help with pain management, posture, and reduces the risk of broken bones. Some exercises that are key for bone health include single leg balancing, and moving joint through their whole range of motion. The OsteofitnessTM program includes all of these types of exercise to keep you healthy!
